Deadpool set to Devour sandwich market

By Industry News
April 25, 2018

Deadpool is “selling out” ahead of the release of Deadpool 2 on May 18 by partnering with DEVOUR, a food brand on a mission to bring mouthwatering flavor to consumers. Deadpool has teamed up with DEVOUR as the brand dares to turn up the heat on the frozen aisle by introducing its first-of-a-kind line of sandwiches with melty cheeses, tender meats and toasted golden-brown bread.

In the new digital spot, Deadpool takes you inside his dreams, riding a unicorn through a supermarket in search of a satisfying sandwich that will tantalize even a superhero’s cravings. He encounters a cast of characters along the way, from a casino of frozen food characters to a sassy little girl, before absconding with the sandwiches into a giant dream-like microwave.

The campaign also includes custom DEVOUR packaging featuring Deadpool, as well as POS and outdoor in select markets.

“I always told myself I’d never sell out,” Deadpool commented, “But daddy needs to bring home the bacon. In more ways than one.”

DEVOUR sandwiches have nothing to hide: each is packaged open-faced, so what you see is what you get. That means premium cuts of tender meats mixed with soon-to-be melted gooey cheeses loaded atop toasted, golden-brown bread. Mouthwatering flavors include the age-old classic Philly Cheesesteak; a remix of a traditional grilled cheese with Buffalo Chicken; Sweet and Smoky Pork, also known as BBQ on the go; and the dream team of Turkey Bacon and Ranch.

“We created our DEVOUR sandwiches to satisfy real cravings,” said Katy Marshall, Marketing and Sales Lead for Springboard, the new Kraft Heinz platform dedicated to nurturing, scaling, and accelerating growth of disruptive food brands, including DEVOUR. “We believe you shouldn’t have to compromise taste for convenience, so we designed our new sandwiches to taste like food you would find at a restaurant. You would never believe that our new sandwiches come from a microwave. Taste for yourself.”

Insanely easy and convenient to prepare, DEVOUR sandwiches can go from the freezer to your mouth in under three minutes, all on a unique microwaveable tray that doubles as a sandwich holder. Digging into your favorite sandwich is now easier than ever. DEVOUR sandwiches are available at retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $3.50.
