Barry-Wehmiller Packaging Systems encourages Pack Expo attendees to “Expect More”

By Industry News
BW Packaging Systems
October 16, 2018

According to Barry-Wehmiller Packaging Systems, customers should “Expect More” of their packaging equipment providers and at Pack Expo 2018, they’re going to show attendees just why.

BW Packaging Systems represents the collective packaging equipment capabilities of five Barry-Wehmiller packaging companies – Accraply, BW Flexible Systems (formerly Hayssen Flexible Systems and Thiele Technologies), BW Integrated Systems (formerly BW Container Systems and Thiele Technologies), Pneumatic Scale Angelus and Synerlink. BW Packaging Systems companies will be in Booth S-2100 for Pack Expo, Oct. 14-17 at McCormick Place, Chicago Ill. Another Barry-Wehmiller company, Design Group, will also be represented in Booth S-2100.

Within this year’s booth, BW Packaging Systems will exhibit a fully integrated packaging line featuring a BW Flexible Systems Schib CO90 Horizontal Flow Wrapper and their new Simionato Doy Zip 380 with a BW Integrated Systems ITL300 Case Packer and an Accraply Case Labeler.

In addition to the integrated line and other machines, new products will also be on display. As noted above, BW Flexible Systems will exhibit their new Simionato Doy Zip 380 VFFS machine, previously only available in Europe. One of the most versatile, efficient, and competitive machines on the market, this intermittent motion bagger can efficiently produce a wide range of bag formats, sizes, and shapes, with or without zip re-close. BW Flexible Systems will also have the new Hudson-Sharp 750 TAP machine on display, which runs INNO-LOK Pre-Zippered film with the ability to run on all VFFS machines. Pneumatic Scale Angelus will have their new CB100 canning line on display, a 100 can-per-minute filler/ seamer combo perfect for mid-size breweries or for beverage companies looking for a smaller-scale production line.

Experts from Synerlink will be on hand to showcase their fully-integrated fill-seal and form-fill-seal lines, including those of recent acquisition, Ermi, a leading manufacturer of ultra-clean and aseptic fill -seal bottle and cup fillers for milk, desserts, yogurt and juices.

In addition to their equipment and displays within the BW Packaging Systems booth, BW Integrated Systems will be featured on the Pack Expo Innovation Stage Booth N-4585 at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15. Titled “Robotic Rotary Case Palletization – Revolving Around Your Challenges,” experts from BW Integrated Systems will talk about the advantages of robotic rotary case palletization and how handling up to 8 different SKUs of product at the same time for palletizing multi-product, rainbow packaging or with multiple lines feeding a common palletizer can help revolutionize warehousing and logistics.

BW Packaging Systems Group President Carol O’Neill will participate in a panel during the Packaging & Processing Women’s Leadership Network breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, Room E-450. O’Neill will be part of a conversation with top manufacturing executives about how to empower women in the packaging industry. These industry leaders will weigh-in on the company culture change required to grow women’s presence in this male-dominated field, and how the industry as a whole can assist in building a more diversified workforce.

“It’s an honor to be able to speak to this important topic in our industry,“ O’Neill said.

Pack Expo is also a time for attendees to be reintroduced to BW Packaging Systems’ two newest divisions, BW Flexible Systems and BW Integrated Systems. At the beginning of 2018, the flexible packaging experts from Hayssen Flexible Systems and the bag converting and bag filling divisions of Thiele Technologies were brought together to form a single team as BW Flexible Systems. At the same time, the BW Container Systems team and the end of line teams from Thiele Technologies merged to become BW Integrated Systems.

“Our theme this year is ‘Expect More’ because we really think you should expect more from your packaging equipment partner,” O’Neill said. “With the BW Packaging Systems companies, you can buy a single machine or a complete line, but we also have the ability to completely integrate your packaging system, we have process and inspection solutions, we have intuitive and intelligent OEE systems, and a global support team that can help take care of all your needs around the world. Beyond that, we have a dedicated culture of service within our company of people who care. We want you to expect more of us because we strive to deliver more.”
