USPOULTRY develops educational course for managers overseeing CMV drivers
Training acknowledges that driver managers often wear many hats -- including overseeing feed mills, hatcheries, live haul operations and other critical functions -- and provides a fundamental overview of the information necessary for managers to succeed in their roles.

In industries like poultry, where commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers are essential to daily operations, driver safety is not optional — it is a shared responsibility. Recognizing this, USPOULTRY has developed a comprehensive Driver Manager Foundational Knowledge course designed specifically for managers and supervisors responsible for overseeing CMV drivers.
Driver managers often wear many hats, including overseeing feed mills, hatcheries, live haul operations and other critical functions where CMV drivers play a central role. This training acknowledges the complexity of those responsibilities and provides a fundamental overview of the information necessary for managers to succeed in their roles.
The training includes understanding recommended procedures and practices regarding collisions and other fleet safety incidents and the importance of properly managing driver training programs and applying technology to support safer operations. Managers gain practical insight into ensuring all required driver training is completed, while developing an understanding of Electronic Logging Device platforms and vehicle in-cab camera technologies and platforms — tools that promote compliance, encourage safe driving behaviors and help protect drivers through accurate documentation and responsible incident review. Additionally, the course provides teachings to recognize basic Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations regarding reasonable suspicion and random drug and alcohol testing.
The Driver Manager Foundational Knowledge course is available complimentary to USPOULTRY members under the “Featured” tab of the Learning Management System.
USPOULTRY leads the development of employee training programs addressing biosecurity, environmental compliance, transportation safety, workplace safety and more. Through its Learning Management System, these resources are offered complimentary to members as a benefit of membership.
