MEXICO CITY – Mexico is banning imports from Arkansas due to a recent bird flu outbreak in the state.
The country’s Agriculture Department said Thursday that poultry meat, fertilized eggs, song birds and messenger pigeons are banned indefinitely.
Approximately 15,000 birds were culled earlier this month after the discovery of a low-pathogenic strain of avian influenza. The strain was not harmful to humans.
