EL DORADO, Ark. – Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. announced Monday that another 100 positions will be cut at its plant in El Dorado, Ark.

The cuts are in addition to the 600 jobs cut at the plant earlier this year.

The company reportedly said that the 100 positions are on the eviscerating line at its chicken processing plant. The cuts will be effective Nov. 21.

Pilgrim's Pride spokesman Ray Atkinson reportedly said that the Pittsburg, Texas-based company laid off 450 El Dorado workers and cut another 150 open positions to eliminate the 600 positions earlier this year.

Pilgrim's is consolidating the tray-pack chicken portion of the El Dorado plant as part of an overall plan to improve efficiencies.

Like other poultry producers, Pilgrim’s has been fighting increased costs of feed in the past year that have sharply cut into profits.
