SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. – Beef Products Inc. (BPI) has received an “industry of the year” award from Nebraska’s economic development group.

Reports Tuesday said that Neb. Gov. Dave Heineman recently presented the Nebraska Diplomats award to BPI co-founders Eldon and Regina Roth.

Heineman noted that BPI has initiated a four-year expansion of its flagship facility in South Sioux City. The expansion involves a $400 million investment and is expected to lead to the eventual creation of 300 jobs by 2010.

A new 450-acre industrial park in South Sioux City is reportedly named for the Roths.

BPI shared the honors with Smeal Fire Apparatus Co. of Snyder, Neb.
