Multivac announced that Norm Winkel has decided to retire from the company after more than 33 years with the Multivac organization. Winkel’s tenure with the Multivac brand began in the parts department when Multivac products were sold through Koch Equipment. He quickly moved up the ladder to become a field salesman in the Midwest, a position he held for a decade. As Multivac transitioned into an independent company, he grew right along with it, becoming national sales manager for Multivac Inc. Winkel was later promoted to become director of sales and marketing, then general manager of the food division. He has been in his present position as director of key accounts since 2003. His retirement is effective May 15, 2010, at which time Matt Malott will assume his title and responsibilities.

Malott is a 22-year veteran of the packaging industry. He joined Multivac in 1988, initially working in the package design group, and has served in a number of critical roles providing innovative packaging solutions to producers of perishable packaged goods nationwide. He is presently a key account manager serving a select group of America’s largest food processors. In his new position, Malott will report to Jan Erik Kuhlmann, Multivac’s president and CEO.

“Throughout his very impressive career, Norm Winkel has built a reputation for winning through the success of our customers,” says Kuhlmann. “That philosophy has been integral to the countless relationships he has cultivated in the industry, as well as in the mentoring of his team inside Multivac, which includes his successor. While it’s tough to say goodbye, we are confident our key customers will continue to receive exceptional service and consultation from the team under the able leadership of Matt Malott. We thank Norm for his distinguished service and wish him all the best for a long, happy and healthy retirement, where he can enjoy watching his grandkids excel in their chosen fields of sport.”
