Hawkins Inc. has announced an agreement to acquire New Jersey-based Trumark Inc., maker and marketer of antimicrobial agents. The acquisition is meant to enhance research and development activities and add scale and territory while complementing product offerings. Minneapolis-based Hawkins provides products and equipment to safely dispense chemicals in controlled environments.
Swisslog has purchased Accalon, a leading manufacturer of conveyor systems and stacker cranes for warehouses and distribution centers, for an undisclosed sum. The primary goal of the acquisition is to improve the competitiveness in the market segment for less complex projects. The acquisition will advance the production of conveyor systems in China where Accalon already has a manufacturing site. Swisslog also expects the realization of synergies in the Scandinavian customer support business.

Alcan Packaging Food Americas has completed the expansion of its Neenah Technical Center in Neenah, Wis. The $1 million expansion of the 115,000 square-foot facility has consolidated Alcan’s Customer Service teams with the existing Research & Development organization. The investment was designed to create needed space for R&D, an Innovation Center, and to centralize customer service for most of Alcan Packaging Food Americas’ North American operations.
Wixon Inc., a 100-year-old food ingredients and product development company of Wisconsin, has won an IQ (Innovative Quotient) Award from the Wisconsin Technology Council and the Small Business Times, a southeastern Wisconsin business publication. The award honors ten of the most innovative companies in the southeastern Wisconsin region. Wixon won for its creation and development of its Mag-nifique line of flavor technologies. Sealed Air’s Cryovac® brand won two awards for “Excellence in Flexography” in the mid web-film-process print category from the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA). The awards were presented on Tuesday, May 8 at FFTA’s 2007 Annual Forum & INFO*FLEX Exhibition in Montreal, QC, Canada. Sealed Air’s winning entries were printed in its Rochester, N.Y. facility for Schweigert’s Willow Brook honey mustard wings, which received a silver award in the category, and Willow Brook buffalo style hot wings, which received a gold award in the category and Best of Show award for its category.
