JBS SA, the parent company of JBS USA, reported a fourth-quarter net loss of 539.3 reais ($325 million), compared to a profit of 127.9 reais in the fourth quarter of 2009. The company said nonrecurring debentures payments and restructuring costs for some of its Brazilian and international units had a negative impact on the quarterly results, according to Reuters.
Net revenue reached 14.3 billion reais from October through December, up 93 percent from the 7.4 billion reais in the last quarter of 2009. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, a signal of cash flow known as EBITDA, was 865.9 billion reais over the quarter, up 117.7 percent from the 397.8 billion reais in the fourth quarter of the year prior.
