Piccadilly Fine Foods, a Santa Clara, Calif. establishment, is recalling approximately 79 pounds of chicken and yam pie products that may include a curry paste containing shrimp, a known allergen not declared on the product label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.
The products subject to recall are shipping cases containing 24 "Top Nosh Farmer's Market Chicken and Yam with Coconut Curry Pies" and individual 5.5-ounce "Top Nosh Farmer's Market Chicken and Yam with Coconut Curry Pies."
Each package label bears the establishment number "P-9216" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Additionally each package bears the lot code 184-12. The lot code is stamped on the label side of the shipping cases and ink-jetted on the plastic film overwrap of each individual pie. The products were produced on June 29, 2012, and sold to a San Jose, Calif.-area distributor for further distribution.
The problem was discovered by FSIS during a routine label review and occurred as a result of a temporary change in the ingredient formulation for the product. FSIS and the company have not received reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
