Worker killed in Pilgrim's Pride plant identified
A 37-year-old man who was killed Tuesday after an accident at the Pilgrim's Pride chicken plant in Canton has been named. Cherokee County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said the victim was identified as Christopher Chin of Canton, reports 11 Alive News.
Detectives said that the death is believed to have been an accident. The man apparently was trying to dislodget a piece of debris in some equipment when he was killed. It happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the plant on Univeter Road.
OSHA is taking part in the investigation.
