Fortress stealth metal detector resistant to attack from dust and water

November 15, 2013

Fortress Technology – leading global specialist in food industry metal detection – has revealed that its extra rugged Stealth model is now officially accredited with IP69K rating. Reinforcing the system’s superior reliability and accuracy benefits for the harshest of production environments, this latest certification represents the highest level of waterproof resistance to high pressure jet wash and complete seal against dust.

Tested in accordance with Ingress Protection (IP) standards by an independent European test facility, the high performance Stealth metal detector was subjected to a 80°C (175°F) steam clean spray at various angles with pressure up to 100 bar (1500 PSI), as well as being placed in a dust chamber for eight hours.

Produced at Fortress’s state‐of‐the‐art manufacturing plant in Toronto, the Stealth metal detector features a modular design with fewer product parts for greater reliability. Plus a revolutionary Lexan control panel has been specially designed to withstand the harshest production environments.

For heightened stability and performance in wet or heavy duty product applications, IP69K certified extra rugged casing has been used and the addition of an epoxy chute makes the Stealth water resistant.

Offering excellent return on investment and maintaining the company’s ‘never obsolete’ commitment, Stealth has been developed to be fully compatible with all earlier models of Fortress ‘Phantom’ branded metal detectors, including retrofitting of latest features and functionality.

Using Fortress CONTACT Lite Software, the Stealth metal detector can be transformed into a Critical Control Point. Capturing performance details such as QA tests, rejects and faults, this can be extended onto a USB device for simple uncomplicated management reporting.

Like other Fortress metal detector systems, Stealth incorporates the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology for unparalleled precision and speed, and to detect and reject ferrous and non‐ferrous metals, including non‐magnetic stainless steel in food processing and packaging applications.

Additional key features include UltraSense, which ensures that high sensitivity levels are maintained in order to detect the smallest metal contaminants, and Auto Test, self‐diagnostics tool, which helps to guarantee consistent high performance and to keep costs down.

Fortress metal detectors are renowned for speed, accuracy and simple operation and used widely within a range of food industry sectors including Bakery, Meats, Ready Meals, Dairy, Confectionery and Fresh, Chilled and Frozen Foods.

Optional precautions include aperture lining, using epoxy resin with a labyrinth design seal for heavy wash down situations, or a dry liner for wipe down applications.
