Proposal would allow the voluntary 'Product of USA' claim to be used on meat and poultry products solely derived from animals born, raised, slaughtered and processed in the U.S.
A product’s packaging and labeling contribute significantly to a product’s success or failure. Frequently small and medium-sized meat processors pay a lot of attention to the ingredients used in a product and the way the product is manufactured and fail to pay enough attention to how the product is packaged and labeled.
FSIS is proposing to amend labeling regulations to remove duplicative net weight and net content requirements for packages that contain certain amounts of meat or poultry products.
