New Footwear Sanitizing System offers critical protection for facilities where pathogen reduction and moisture control is needed

By Industry News
October 23, 2014

Best Sanitizer FootwashBest Sanitizers Inc. announces its new HACCP SmartStep Footwear Sanitizing System. The HACCP SmartStep adds an additional layer of pathogen protection for meat and poultry processing facilities and ready-to-eat preparation areas by reducing cross contamination from footwear before employees enter the production area or other critical control areas. This foot-operated unit uses compressed air to deliver a finely atomized mist of Alpet D2 Surface Sanitizer to the bottom of the employee's footwear. The mist provides ample coverage to footwear soles, yet uses only 0.2 ounces of product which minimizes chemical waste and improves moisture control. This delivery method, combined with Alpet D2’s proven efficacy and highly evaporative properties, creates an effective solution for processing plants where reducing pathogens and controlling moisture is critical.

Alpet D2 Surface Sanitizer is widely used throughout the food processing industry for sanitizing tools, hard surfaces and water sensitive equipment. It is a 58% isopropyl alcohol/quaternary formulation that is ready-to-use (RTU), no-rinse, and is safe for use on food contact surfaces. Alpet D2 is a proven rubber boot and glove sanitizer, NSF registered, Kosher certified, and Pareve.

The HACCP SmartStep unit features a compact footprint (10”W x21.5”L x 17”H) and can go practically anywhere in a processing facility. Multiple units can be placed throughout the plant wherever pathogen reduction from footwear is needed, and with the optional handles and boot scrubber, the HACCP SmartStep System can be tailored to meet your plant’s specific needs.

“This is a very versatile system. The HACCP SmartStep provides processors with an effective tool in the fight against cross-contamination from footwear.” added Ryan Witt, Best Sanitizers’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “It’s the perfect complement to our HACCP Defender™ Walk-Through Automatic Boot Sanitizing Station.”
