Leader Slaughterhouse, LLC, an Imler, Penn., establishment, is recalling approximately 1,800 pounds of veal carcasses that were produced without the full benefit of federal inspection and outside inspection hours, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced.

The carcasses were produced on April 10, 2015. The product subject to recall includes 6 individual 300-pound veal carcasses, cut into quarters. The product subject to recall does not bear the USDA mark of inspection. This product was picked up at the establishment’s location in Imler, Penn., and taken by customers to Pennsylvania and New York.

The problem was discovered by FSIS personnel during in-plant verification activities. FSIS and the company have received no reports of illness due to consumption of this product.
