Creminelli Fine Meats announced its new line of all-natural hams – sevenhams – the first ever premium hams from non-GMO fed pigs in the U.S., available exclusively at all Whole Foods Markets nationwide on May 28, 2015.

“We’re excited to be the first to create a line of hams from pigs raised on feed that is verified by the Non-GMO Project,” said Cristiano Creminelli, founder of Creminelli Fine Meats. “There’s so much processed food in America. Especially when you buy meat, you never know if it’s full of chemicals and fillers. Our hams are not only free of synthetic nitrates, but also offer shoppers who are looking to avoid GMOs a new choice. By being non-GMO fed, we can pursue our mission to improve the food people can enjoy everyday.”

Meat itself cannot be tested to determine if it is from animals fed GMOs, which makes achieving verifications for meat even more complex than for plant-based products. In order to earn verification, suppliers must only feed their animals non-GMO-verified feed, and are subject to regular, ongoing testing.
