Birko, a leading provider of food safety solutions to the meat, produce and beverage industries, announced the hiring of Mark Fisher as its new Director of Operations.

In this new role, Fisher will be responsible for all supply chain functions including production, shipping and receiving, and purchasing. In addition, he will be responsible for plant and facilities maintenance, ISO initiatives and safety programs, and be a member of the senior Management Team.

Fisher joins Birko from Electronic Recyclers Inc. in Aurora where he has worked since 2012, first as a Plant Manager and most recently as a Regional Plant Manager. Prior to ERI, he was at Avery Dennison for eight years in operations roles, and at Duracell for ten years in engineering and production management roles.

His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, an MBA from the University of North Carolina and an MS in I/O Psychology from University of Tennessee.
