Vision Research, a leading manufacturer of digital high-speed Phantom imaging systems, has introduced the Phantom S210 and S200, 2Gpx/sec (16 Gbps) machine vision cameras. The S210 reaches 1,730 frames per second (fps) at full1.3Mpx resolution, while the S200 achieves 7,000 fps at full 0.3Mpx VGA resolution. Both cameras provide the frame rates and throughput needed for demanding machine vision applications across multiple industries.

These new machine vision cameras are sharply focused on meeting the unique needs of the industry. The S210 and S200 build on the proven quality of the Phantom camera line and leverage sensors currently used in Phantom Miro C cameras.

Incorporating Vision Research’s high-speed imaging expertise, the cameras bring the same cutting-edge image quality at industry-leading frame rates that users have come to regularly receive with Phantom cameras. Additionally, the S210 and S200 camera design incorporates those features most relevant to machine vision applications. This has resulted in compact, economical cameras, perfectly suited for a variety of machine vision situations.

“Industry’s need for faster frame rates and throughput speeds is always increasing.  Phantom cameras have delivered on that need, while remaining a cost-effective solution. The goal with the S210 and S200 was to provide bleeding-edge technology at pricing levels that allows users to remain competitive, while building profit-driving systems.  We are excited with the release of the Phantom S210 and S200.  The cameras offer proven image quality and high frame rates that are all delivered in a small, price-competitive camera package,” notes Dan Hafen, Director of Business Development for Phantom Streaming Cameras.

The S210 and S200 both use up to four CoaXPress (CXP6) channels to reach 2Gpx/sec throughput. Both are GenICam compliant and stream directly into PCI Express frame grabbers. The cameras also feature a general-purpose input/output (GPIO), for fast and flexible signaling and synchronization. These include signals beneficial in standard high-speed applications, such as Time Code In/Out, along with a host of other signals commonly found in streaming applications, such as Trigger, strobe, and event marking.

With the S210 and S200, manufacturers can increase their line speeds, while maintaining high image quality and recording accuracy—decreasing bottlenecks and cost per unit and increasing production volumes.
