FlexXray acquisition of Accu-ray provides food industry a national network of foreign contaminant identification and recovery services
FlexXray, the nation’s leading X-ray inspection and recovery service for food companies, announced today that it has acquired Illinois-based Accu-ray, a leading provider of inspection solutions for food, pharmaceutical and automotive manufacturers throughout the U.S. and Canada. The combined company will operate as FlexXray effective immediately.
FlexXray helps manufacturing facilities quickly and cost-effectively detect and recover foreign material contamination that can occur during production or packaging. The company works with more than 900 production plants in the U.S., including 90 percent of the top 25 protein and processed-food producers in the country.
This acquisition immediately expands FlexXray’s ability to provide greater access to the highest level of inspection services. With operations now in Texas, Connecticut, and Illinois, customers can select the location nearest to them, which will allow for faster response times and lower transportation costs.
“This is one more important step toward building our national footprint,” said FlexXray President Randy Jesberg. “By adding Accu-ray’s technology and service offerings to our existing services, we’re able to provide our customers the best practices and equipment from both companies. This allows us to create stronger, more efficient operations.”
The acquisition does not only add an additional location; it also increases the number of X-ray inspection machines available to customers as well as the introduction of a substantial fleet of metal detector rental machines.
“At the end of the day, this brings us closer to our customer base, gives us greater operational capacity and allows us to offer customers a faster turnaround time,” said Chris Keith, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service for FlexXray. “That means we’re able to find more foreign material and keep it from entering the food supply.”
This growing capacity also supports the company’s goal of providing the most cost-effective and efficient food inspection solutions while also offering exceptional customer service.
