1500 people attended the 8th annual Bacon Bash Texas on October 19, 2019 in support of Niki Warms the Cold, which distributes coats and blankets to those in need across the state of Texas, as well as Bacon Bash Texas’ own charity, which has started a scholarship fund to send children with Type 1 Diabetes to specialized diabetes camps and provide funding to families for a Continuous Glucose Monitoring System. The cook off and auction, which took place on the main street of Cranfills Gap, Texas, grossed over $65,000.

Festival goers walked the streets of Cranfills Gap enjoying bacon and pork butt samples as well as selections of beers, Bloody Marys, and Texas wines. The festival also offered a Cornhole Tournament sponsored by GameGuard Outdoors, a great lineup of Texas Country music, and a live auction.

In addition to bragging rights, the winning teams split a monetary payout of $10,000, with the top team also being featured on the back of 45,000 packages of Pederson’s Natural Farms bacon distributed across the nation. In total, 21 teams competed for the top spot. This year, S wine Me Dine Me , a team out of Fort Worth, took home the crown for the second year in a row for their bacon dish, and Cranfills Gap’s own Rockin’ G took home the prize for the winning pork butt. Georgetown’s Achin’ for Bacon won “Best in Show” and Baconeers traveled to “The Gap” from Plano to take home the “People’s Choice” award.

2019 Bacon Bash celebrity judges included Cowboy Chef Newton (recent MasterChef contestant), Mike Micallef (Reata Restaurant Fort Worth), Paige Murray, and several others.
