Omaha Steaks and UPS company Roadie first launched their partnership in May 2025, expanding it in April 2026 to include same-day delivery. Previously, customers had a single shipping option, but the expanded offering now provides greater flexibility through same-day delivery.

The offering reached all 44 store locations by May 2026. The platform allows Omaha Steaks to extend delivery reach without additional fixed infrastructure while maintaining speed, visibility and reliability in the last mile of delivery.

Omaha Steaks customers within a 30-mile radius can now receive eligible orders in as little as three hours when orders are placed by 3 p.m. Eastern Time.

The National Provisioner sat down with Nate Rempe, president and CEO of Omaha Steaks, to discuss this partnership expansion and what expanded same-day delivery capabilities mean for Omaha Steaks.

Your partnership with Roadie began in 2025 and expanded to include same-day delivery in 2026. What did you learn in that first year that gave you confidence to scale the program nationwide?

Nate Rempe: During our initial partnership, we saw that Roadie's platform allowed us to extend our delivery reach without the need to build out additional fixed infrastructure. We learned that we could successfully maintain speed, visibility, and reliability in the last mile. That proven track record gave us the confidence to move beyond a single shipping option and rapidly scale our same-day delivery capabilities nationwide by May 2026.

The program now supports all 44 Omaha Steaks retail locations. What operational considerations were most important when expanding same-day delivery across the entire store network?

Nate Rempe: The most critical operational consideration was securing the flexible capacity needed to support rapid same-day delivery at scale, especially during peak gifting times like Father's Day. Leveraging Roadie’s nationwide network of more than 500,000 independent drivers allowed us to seamlessly expand this service without taking on additional fixed infrastructure. It was vital that we could scale up while still guaranteeing speed, visibility, and reliability for our customers.

What role do Omaha Steak’s retail locations play in supporting the company’s same-day delivery strategy?

Nate Rempe: Our 44 store locations serve as the foundation for this program. Utilizing our existing retail footprint means that we can fulfill and dispatch orders to customers within a 30-mile radius of each store in as little as three hours. And next day delivery in a 50-mile radius. This strategic use of our locations allows us to offer premium, same-day delivery to more than 140 million Americans, just in time for Father’s Day.

What systems or safeguards are most critical to maintaining product quality and cold-chain integrity during the three-hour delivery window?

Nate Rempe: To ensure every order arrives in peak condition, we rely on stringent cold-chain best practices designed to keep perishable items cold and protected throughout transit for a fresh delivery. The most critical safeguard is ensuring that orders are specifically matched with drivers and vehicles equipped to safely transport temperature-sensitive items. Additionally, we provide real-time tracking from pickup to the doorstep, so our customers know exactly when to expect their delivery and can plan with confidence.

How do you see same-day delivery reshaping consumer expectations in the premium meat category over the next few years?

Nate Rempe: Consumers have come to expect greater speed and convenience when it comes to premium meat and gifting, but they don't want to sacrifice quality. Same-day delivery helps meet those expectations by making premium products more accessible for both planned occasions and last-minute needs. Through our partnership with Roadie, we're able to offer customers the convenience of receiving eligible orders in as little as three hours while maintaining the quality, visibility and reliability they expect from Omaha Steaks. It means someone can decide they want premium steaks for dinner that evening, have them delivered to their door, quick-thaw them, and have them on the grill the same day. Speed, transparency and convenience will continue to play an increasingly important role in how consumers shop for premium food and gifting occasions.
