American Lamb Board holds summer meeting focused on industry growth, collaboration and innovation
Board members review marketing, research, producer education and industry programs as ALB sets priorities for the coming fiscal year.

The American Lamb Board convened its Summer Board Meeting July 21–22, 2026, bringing together board members, staff and industry partners to review current programs, discuss emerging opportunities and establish priorities for the coming fiscal year.
The two-day meeting highlighted ALB's continued commitment to strengthening demand for American lamb, supporting producers, investing in research and education and fostering collaboration across the sheep industry.
Board members reviewed ALB's financial position during the budget and finance report before receiving comprehensive marketing updates showcasing ongoing consumer outreach efforts. Marketing discussions highlighted the continued impact of ALB's social media advertising campaigns, expanded nutrition messaging opportunities, progress on the 2026 Lamb Jam event series and the launch of the new Gather & Graze Cookbook Club, a consumer engagement initiative designed to inspire home cooks to prepare American lamb through shared recipes and community participation.
The US Meat Export Federation provided an update on their international American Lamb promotions, followed by a recap of the recent Global Sheep Forum activities, which emphasized the importance of global collaboration and leadership development within the sheep industry.
The afternoon featured updates from the American Sheep Industry Association, including discussions about opportunities for a collaborative, industrywide promotional campaign to further strengthen awareness and demand for American lamb.
Research and producer education remained central themes throughout the meeting. Board members received updates on the status of 2026 research projects, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) grant, educational workshops, leadership development initiatives, producer summits, and continued expansion of the Sheep IQ platform.
The meeting concluded with strategic planning sessions focused on Fiscal Year 2027 priorities. Board members collaborated to develop program recommendations across marketing, industry programs, research, and producer education, ensuring continued investment in initiatives that deliver value to producers and advance the American sheep industry.
"The Summer Board Meeting provided an excellent opportunity for the Board to evaluate our progress, identify new opportunities, and work collaboratively to strengthen the future of the American sheep industry," said ALB Chairman David Fisher. "The discussions and strategic planning over these two days reaffirmed our commitment to investing producer checkoff dollars in impactful marketing, research, producer education, and industry partnerships that build demand for American lamb and create long-term value for producers."
