Aynor Conway Meat Center, a meat processing business located in Horry County, S.C., was destroyed by a fire early Sunday morning. The fire occurred in the middle of the night and left nothing but a burned-out building and charred meat coolers, reports The Herald.

“It was engulfed in flames,” said Dale Edwards, a nearby resident who jumped in his truck and drove to the fire after hearing the sirens and seeing smoke from his house.

“There was no saving it, for sure. It was burning bad.”

The business had been run by the Barhnill family since 2010, according to neighbors. The store sold groceries as well as meat products, and it was a popular processor for deer hunters in the area.

“It’s heartbreaking. This is sad. This is really devastating,” said Melissa Brown, who had recently dropped off the first deer her son shot for processing. “Everything is gone. Even the doors to the cooler are melted off.”
