Customs sets new regulations for chicken imports

U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced new measures regarding the importation of poultry products and eggs into the country, reports The Monitor (Mcallen, Texas). The changes come after the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced new requirements for processed poultry meat.

A worker on the cleaning crew at K&K Gourmet Meats in Leetsdale, Pa., had his foot caught in a shut-down grinder for eight hours before being freed. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the grinder had been turned off for cleaning when Nicholas Mangino, 26, slipped and got his foot wedged in the machine.
