Foster Farms issued a statement commending the Fresno County Sheriff's Ag Task Force and the public for their swift action leading to the arrest of persons in connection with the act of violence and animal cruelty committed during an intrusion at a Foster Farms chicken ranch in Caruthers, California on September 20. During the incident, 920 chickens were beaten to death using a golf club and another blunt object, police reported.
“As an American Humane Association-certified chicken producer, Foster Farms has a zero tolerance policy for animal cruelty. Our chicken ranches adhere to humane standards 24/7, 365 days a year and it is the express policy of Foster Farms to treat its birds humanely and with compassion. Any intentional act to the contrary is absolutely unacceptable,” the company said.
