An Alberta court has approved a $4 million CAN settlement of a class-action lawsuit filed after an E. coli outbreak linked to an XL Foods processing plant. The plant is now owned by JBS.

According to The Canadian Press, people who became sick after eating the beef or people who purchased the beef can apply for compensation. The deadline to apply is August 17, 2016. Under the agreement, which refers to possible E. coli contamination, XL Foods does not accept any wrongdoing or liability.
