Somma Food Group announced today their successful launch of a partnership with one of the top 5 largest school districts in the state of Texas – Austin Independent School District.  Making their official Austin school menu debut this fall, Somma Food Group's Chickentopia Drumstix will be served in 130 schools in the city, reaching over 83,000 students.

According to representatives of Somma Food Group, the Chickentopia Drumstix has enough flavor to stand on its own, but is balanced enough to carry a wide variety of sauces.  The culinary team at Austin ISD has developed two custom recipes to be featured with the drumstick – Cilantro Lime and Rosemary.

"We are proud to partner with Austin ISD to bring the highest quality chicken to tens of thousands of students in Austin," said Gary Hamm, Vice President of Marketing at Somma Food Group. "We are very excited to see more school districts across the country adopt our products as a healthy and delicious source of chicken that is never, ever given antibiotics and never, ever fed animal byproducts."

This fall, the district launched its' new Garden to Café program, which seeks to partner with students, community members, teachers and administrators to serve produce grown on campus in the cafeteria. "Austin ISD has taken many important steps to providing clean, healthy food for its students by improving the conversation around school lunch and we are privileged to feed their students with our Chickentopia Drumstix," said Kevin Potter, Vice President of Sales at Somma Food Group.
