The Southeastern Meat Association will hold its annual Convention from June 8-11 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort in Daytona Beach, Fla. The annual event brings together processors from throughout the Southeast, leading industry suppliers and interesting speakers.

The conference begins with a welcome reception on June 8. The SEMA Officers and Board of Directors have a fun and educational convention planned. Speakers will include Ted Wampler Jr. of Wampler Farms, who will speak on “A Journey to Sustainability & Energy Independence”; Garrett Self of Smartwatt Energy Inc., who will speak on “Energy Optimization & Renewables for the Meat Plant Industry,” and Dr. Al Almanza of the FSIS, who will deliver updates about the USDA and FSIS. Other topics to be discussed include food safety and workers compensation management.

Along with the educational sessions, the SEMA Convention will host a trade show featuring more than 50 suppliers who will be sharing their latest equipment, services and processing supplies. Families of attendees will have plenty of things to do during the convention, with numerous play areas at the hotel and one of the world’s most famous beaches steps from the hotel.
