Burgers’ Smokehouse has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Clifty Farm Country Meats, headquartered in Paris, TN.  The combined companies would be the largest producer of country ham in the nation.

“The purchase of Clifty Farm fulfills a key strategic initiative to dramatically reduce risk by providing multiple locations for the production of country cured hams,” said Steven Burger, President of Burgers’ Smokehouse.  “Clifty Farm has been a tough competitor over many years and is a leading country ham brand in the grocery channel.  We now look forward to combining the strengths of our organizations to better serve the needs of our customers in all sales channels,” explained Burger.

“We are proud of the business we have developed and believe that becoming part of the Burgers’ Smokehouse team is the best next step for our company,” said Michael Murphey, President of Clifty Farm Country Meats. “I look forward to continuing with the company when the sale is completed.”

The sale is expected to be complete in early 2019 and with that, Burgers’ Smokehouse will operate 5 plants across Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky.  Burgers’ Smokehouse has been curing country hams for over 90 years, including whole, sliced, and cooked country hams for customers across the U.S.
