Rendering association applauds EPA's increased Renewable Volume Obligation proposal
EPA announces an increased Renewable Volume Obligation under the Renewable Fuel Standard.

The North American Renderers Association is applauding the US Environmental Protection Agency’s announcement of an increased Renewable Volume Obligation under the Renewable Fuel Standard. The new targets represent a commitment to advancing clean energy while supporting the nation’s agricultural and rendering industries.
“This substantial increase in the RVO provides long-term certainty for producers,” said Kent Swisher, president and CEO of NARA. “We commend the EPA’s continued support of sustainable fuel technologies.”
Rendered animal fats and other recycled byproducts processed by NARA members serve as feedstocks for the production of biodiesel and renewable diesel. These fuels reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help create a circular economy by turning waste into low-carbon energy.
“The rendering industry is proud to be part of the solution,” Swisher said. “This announcement supports American farmers, boosts rural economies, and promotes environmental stewardship—while reducing our nation’s dependence on petroleum-based fuels.”
