SafetyChain is announcing a milestone update to its digital plant management platform, introducing a new Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Management offering that provides a comprehensive framework for identifying, addressing and preventing nonconformances across food operations. The new capabilities were officially unveiled on the mainstage of the SafetyChain Summit in New Orleans on Oct. 20–22, 2025.

Corrective and preventive actions are among the most critical processes for maintaining compliance and protecting product quality in food manufacturing. Yet, many plants still rely on paper forms and spreadsheets to track investigations, assign follow-ups and document closure, creating visibility gaps that slow resolution and risk repeat incidents. SafetyChain’s CAPA Management offering replaces those fragmented processes with a centralized, digital system that connects every task, record and approval from issue identification through to verified resolution.

The new offering supports foundational corrective action workflows, including those for internal plant issues and customer corrective action requests, with expanded supplier-related workflows to follow. Each workflow is powered by customizable templates, task automation and audit-ready documentation, ensuring that all evidence and ownership remain traceable throughout the process. By giving quality and operations teams a unified space to manage internal deviations and customer complaints, SafetyChain enables faster cycle times, reduced downtime and fewer repeat issues.

“Every food manufacturer knows that when a process deviation or quality issue occurs, closing the loop quickly and efficiently is absolutely critical,” said Randal Burrier, chief product and technology officer at SafetyChain. “Our new CAPA Management offering gives quality and operations teams one structured, auditable system to capture root causes, drive corrective actions, and prove compliance. It’s a major step forward in helping manufacturers not just react to problems, but prevent them altogether.”

For current customers, the CAPA Management offering is included as part of SafetyChain’s existing package structure, with no additional purchase or add-on required. It integrates seamlessly with other SafetyChain capabilities such as quality management and supplier compliance, giving users real-time visibility into every stage of the corrective action lifecycle.

During the summit, SafetyChain leaders and early adopters presented real-world examples of how CAPA is transforming plant-floor accountability. Breakout sessions on CAPA and SCAR explored best practices for driving cross-functional collaboration and ensuring audit readiness across global supply chains.

“Recurring issues cost more than just time and money,” Brown said. “Left unchecked, they completely erode faith in the food supply chain. With CAPA, our customers gain the visibility and discipline they need to strengthen quality programs, meet evolving regulatory expectations, and build a culture of continuous improvement.”

The SafetyChain Summit 2025 event featured more than 50 expert-led sessions, 25 industry speakers, customer case studies and new product announcements designed to help manufacturers streamline compliance, improve throughput and drive sustainable performance.
