Unibloc Hygienic Technologies twin-screw pump

February 2, 2026

Unibloc Hygienic Technologies, a manufacturer of hygienic pumps and flow control products, announces a new line of patent-pending twin screw pumps for food and industrial applications.

Like other twin screw pumps, Unibloc Twin Screw pumps provide a smooth, non-pulsating flow that minimizes shear stress, preserving the integrity of high viscosity, shear-sensitive products such as dairy products, emulsions, fruit purees, soups, creams, gels and serums. They are designed to generate more pressure than some other pump designs, making them ideal for long pipe runs, vertical lifts and highly viscous products. They provide effective cleaning in place because they can operate at high RPM.

Unlike other twin screw pumps, the Unibloc Twin Screw pumps provide a variety of advantages that make it easier to operate, offer more performance, are faster to clean, and provide a lower total cost of ownership:

  • It is designed for simplicity, with fewer parts, identical drive and lay screw shafts, one-way reassembly and other innovations that make cleaning faster than the hours required for other twin screw pumps.
  • It is the only twin screw pump that provides external access to make timing adjustments (patent pending), allowing rapid 5-minute adjustments without disassembling the entire oil housing. Other twin screw pumps require the user to remove the housing, exposing the surrounding workspace and food stream to contamination and risking slippery oil spills.
  • The entire oil reservoir design, also patent-pending, delivers better oil circulation, providing enhanced heat dissipation and bearing protection to extend bearing life and reduce the risk of overheating.
  • It offers a patent-pending front-loaded seal design that simplifies replacement and decreases the chance of seal failures.
  • Their modular designs make it easier to upgrade to other models.
  • Their bi-directional flow enables complete emptying, minimizing product waste and ensuring thorough cleaning between batches.
  • The pumps are capable of dual-duty design – a single pump for processing at low speeds or effective CIP at higher speeds.

It has long been a challenge for processors to select the right pump type for an application. While customers seek guidance from pump manufacturers, they worry about potential bias, unsure if they're getting the best technology or just what the manufacturer happens to sell.

As the only leading pump manufacturer to offer all four primary hygienic pump technologies, UHT application engineers can provide unbiased recommendations for the most appropriate pump technology:

  • Lobe pumps
  • Gear pumps
  • AODD (air-operated double-diaphragm) pumps
  • Twin screw pumps

“Our customers are experts in their processes but not always experts in the fluid dynamics that determine the best pump technology they need to transfer their products,” said UHT CEO Chris Stevens. “Now, with the addition of the Twin Screw pump family, we can recommend the most effective of the four primary pump technologies for a customer’s application, while others have to make compromises due to a more limited product offering.”

The Unibloc Twin Screw pumps offer gentle handling of fluids with viscosities up to 1,000,000 cP and solid particles up to 45 mm. The family of four pumps has flow capacities from 200 to 1,200 gallons (757 to 4542 liters) per minute with volumetric efficiency greater than 90%. The pumps can operate at temperatures up to 248°F (120°C) and system pressures of 360 psi (24.8 bar) to enable their use with a wide range of products.
