After acting as Zaxbys interim chief development officer since February 2026, Russell Holland is now Zaxbys new chief development officer, playing an integral role in executing the brand’s strategy for national growth.
“Russ not only has a proven track record of success improving workflows and supporting profitable growth across QSR brands, but he also has a leadership style that fits the Zaxbys brand,” said Bernard Acoca, Zaxbys CEO. “I am confident in our brand’s ability to continue expanding nationally to share Zaxbys secret sauce with more guests under Russ’ leadership.”
With nearly two decades of experience, Holland has built a strong reputation for developing franchisee relationships, driving restaurant growth and supporting long-term organizational success. Across his career, most recently as vice president, head of real estate for Inspire Brands, and earlier at Waffle House, he has simplified processes, driven pipeline growth, and created practical, scalable development strategies. Now a key member of the Zaxbys executive leadership team, he will leverage this experience to help guide the brand in continued responsible and profitable growth.
As chief development officer, Holland will lead Zaxbys' aggressive growth strategy as the brand continues to cement its position as one of the most attractive franchised concepts in the chicken category. Following the milestone opening of its 1,000th restaurant, Zaxbys now operates across 23 states and is accelerating expansion into key new markets, including New York, Maryland, Phoenix and Chicago. The brand's development pipeline remains robust, with additional growth planned across both traditional and non-traditional venues in 2026, creating new opportunities for franchise partners and bringing Zaxbys’ distinctive chicken, craveable sauces and Southern hospitality to more guests nationwide.
Like Zaxbys, Russ and his family are Georgia natives. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration in economics from the University of Georgia.
“I’m thrilled to join Zaxbys at such an exciting time for the brand’s expansion story and continued national growth,” Holland said. “I look forward to collaborating with Zaxbys seasoned leadership team and franchisees to continue delivering the exceptional Zaxbys experience to communities nationally.”
