Halter targets grazing performance gains for US beef producers
Beef Pro adds grazing records, forage signals, grazing intensity heat maps and animal behavior data to the company's cattle management platform.

Ag-tech company Halter is launching Beef Pro, a product designed to add grazing data, planning tools and animal behavior insights to the company's virtual fencing platform for US beef producers.
The Boulder, Colo.-based ag-tech company said Beef Pro is intended to help ranchers manage grazing performance, pasture utilization and herd movement through a single platform. Halter's existing beef product allows producers to create virtual fences and move herds from a smartphone. Beef Pro adds data and planning capabilities, including feed demand and grazing information, satellite forage signals, grazing intensity heat maps, behavior monitoring and automated grazing records.
"Beef Pro adds the measurement and planning layer on top of the execution layer that is virtual fencing,” said Toby Hurley, director of product at Halter. “Ranchers can quantify what their herds need versus what their land can support, have this data drive planning, and build a record of how each grazing performed.”
The launch follows Halter's introduction of satellite-enabled smart collars, which the company said expanded access to ranchland with limited connectivity. Halter said more than 600 ranchers have signed up for the service.
Halter noted that Beef Pro is designed to support improved pasture utilization, animal oversight, time savings and grazing records. According to the Noble Research Institute, traditional US cow-calf operations typically run at 20-25% pasture utilization, while Beef Pro could help ranches move toward 30-40% utilization on rangelands.
Halter launched in the United States in 2024. The company said it now operates in more than half of the United States, reporting approximately 1,000 American ranchers using its system, more than 250,000 collars sold in the US and more than 1 million sold globally.
Beef Pro is available to new and existing Halter customers across the United States.
