Dr. Jimmy Wise honored by AMSA with Special Recognition Award
Dr. Jimmy Wise was awarded the 2013 American Meat Science Association (AMSA) Special Recognition Award in June at the 66th Annual Reciprocal Meat Conference in Auburn, Alabama.
Dr. Jimmy Wise received his B.S. degree in 1967 from Oklahoma State University and in 1967, he began graduate study at the University of Nebraska, receiving his M.S. degree in 1970 and his Ph.D. his Ph.D. in 1977. In 1970, he accepted a full-time Instructor- Extension Meat Specialist position, which he held through 1977. During his tenure at Nebraska, he coached the meat judging team and co-coached the meat animal evaluation team very successfully, including two wins at the International. He also taught carcass and live animal evaluation, slaughter and processing, and general meat classes.
