BladeStop reduces band saw injury risk in just 0.009 seconds

By Industry News

October 16, 2017

With an industry leading stopping time of 0.009 seconds, BladeStop is designed protect band saw operators and is available in two sensing methods. Since release in 2015 BladeStop has over 400 installs globally and is dramatically reduced the number of serious incidents to band saw operators. BladeStop’s body sensing system senses an operator making contact with the blade and stops operating within 9 milliseconds, leaving the operator with a small skin cut rather than a horrific injury or amputation. GloveCheck, the camera sensing system detects operator gloves moving at high speed in a zone directly upstream from the saw blade, triggering the BladeStop mechanism to stop the saw blade before operator contact with the blade.

BladeStop’s main features & benefits:

  • Stops the blade in 0.009 seconds
  • Heavy duty industrial high speed band saw
  • No bending of the blade, no blade changing required after emergency stop
  • Reduce production time lost due to injuries
  • Greatly reduce worker’s compensation cost
  • Reduce insurance premiums
  • Reduce operator turnover and training costs
  • Promote positive OH&S related to band saw operation
  • Improve personnel morale; happy and motivated workers
  • Improve company’s image as an attractive workplace

Scott Systems International will be demonstrating their Series II BladeStop at Meat Industry Expo, Ontario Canada 20-21 October 2017. For more information contact:
