Protein processor West Liberty Foods is launching a new product line of pre-assembled deli sandwiches in its product catalog and while simultaneously expanding its committed long-term distribution capabilities through a strategic collaboration with Lineage, the world’s largest global temperature-controlled warehouse REIT.

Crafted by culinary professionals and ideal for retailers and convenience stores, Freshwich sandwiches are made with meats, cheese and bread in a grab-and-go format.

To support its expanded portfolio, West Liberty Foods selected Lineage’s temperature-controlled warehousing network and distribution expertise. Together, the two companies integrated a state-of-the-art automated sandwich production line directly into Lineage’s Tremonton, Utah, facility—creating a seamless, vertically integrated operation. This innovative design enables smooth raw material flow into automated production and efficient movement of finished products back into refrigerated distribution, unlocking efficient production and logistics advantages.

Private-label program unlocks growth opportunity

The expansion builds on a highly successful private label program the companies previously collaborated with various national food retailers. That individually wrapped sandwich line exceeded expectations, paving the way for expanded operations in Tremonton, where West Liberty Foods now operates two production facilities fully integrated within the Lineage warehouse.

“We are excited to add these premium, pre-made sandwiches to our product portfolio,” said Brandon Achen, President and CEO for West Liberty Foods. “Freshwich offers retailers an easy-to-merchandise solution while delivering the quality, convenience, and great taste busy consumers demand.”

“We’re thrilled to continue supporting West Liberty Foods as they grow,” said Tim Smith, Chief Commercial Officer at Lineage. “This collaboration highlights how trusted partners can come together to scale innovation, efficiency and long-term growth.”

Freshwich sandwiches are pre-assembled and individually packaged in Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP) on state-of-the art sandwich line technology for increased efficiency, improved consistency, and superior food safety, resulting in the highest quality freshness and flavor for the end consumer.

Available in both fresh and frozen delivery options, the line provides unmatched shelf life and quality.

Freshwich joins West Liberty Foods’ portfolio of signature protein solutions, including Classic Grabs, Heartland’s Best and premium deli selections under the West Liberty Foods brand.
