Curwood wins two Packaging Association of Canada (PAC) Awards

May 9, 2013

New Kraft natural cheese slices and Veg Pro Fresh Attitude Ready-to-Eat Salads, both in Curwood EZ Peel Reseal packaging, garnered Leadership Awards in Flexible Packaging from the Packaging Association of Canada (PAC). The Leadership Award recognizes excellence in categories including packaging structure, merchandising, graphics and printing achievement.

Earning a prestigious Gold award, the Kraft package is the first-known easy-open, resealable semi-rigid forming film/flexible non-forming film package for sliced cheese. Marketed under the Cracker Barrel and P’tit Québec brand names, the Kraft cheeses are targeted towards consumers who are looking for wholesome cheese, in a range of flavors, that save time, stay fresh and offer a quick, easy packaging experience.

Curwood’s EZ Peel Reseal feature is used to reinforce Kraft’s brand promise. The package is effortlessly easy to peel open, maintains freshness and reseals multiple times with fingertip pressure. Rich, vibrant colors, bold type and high-end photography on the package’s front facing communicate the product quality and the Cracker Barrel or P’tit Québec brand positioning. Barrier properties are custom-tailored to the specific cheese variety to extend shelf life. The package contributed to Kraft earning the PAC’s Leader Among Leaders award, the top award given in the competition.

Fresh Attitude Ready-to-Eat Salads, which earned a PAC Silver award, are positioned for quick, easy, convenient consumption, with the ability to store unused portions in the original package. Also featuring Curwood’s EZ Peel® Reseal™ lidstock, the new package delivers the first known rigid tray format with resealable flexible lidding in the ready-to-eat salad category.

The multi-portion package can be easily opened and quickly resealed for convenience and product freshness. Fresh Attitude lids are printed 8-color rotogravure, achieving vibrant brand colors and photographic quality reproduction while also providing a viewing window to showcase the fresh package contents. Toppings that are packaged within the kit feature EZ Peel opening to create a convenient brand experience throughout product use.
