Home » Russia imposes beef import restrictions on Brazilian plants
Russia has imposed import restrictions on Brazilian beef plants owned by JBS SA, Marfrig Alimentos SA and Minerve SA/Brazil for unsanitary conditions, Brazil’s Agriculture Ministry said. Russian sanitary authorities sent a report about plant inspections between June 30 and July 14 in which they found some non-compliance with sanitary rules, reports Bloomberg Businessweek.
Brazil will translate the Russian report to review the violations and work to resolve them “as soon as possible,” the ministry said in the statement. Minerva confirmed Russian suspension of imports from two plants in a regulatory filing. Six of JBS’s plants and one of Marfrig’s were cited in the report, the ministry said. Additionally, Imports from a Pamplona pork plant are also being restricted.
