On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a proposal that, if adopted, would declare Salmonella an adulterant in breaded stuffed raw chicken products, even at very low levels of contamination.
The product labeled as chili topping may actually contain beef taco filling, which contains soy, a known allergen, that is not declared on the product label.
These actions follow APHIS' imposition of HPAI-related restrictions on the importation of avian commodities originating from or transiting Gabon, Guinea and Moldova.
