The National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) was established in response to a need to control diseases whose existence was incompatible with the development of a modern poultry industry.
The investment includes the construction of a new feed mill in Pinckard, Ala., and a $10 million renovation of the processing facility in Enterprise, Ala.
A proposal to turn a closed Vlasic Pickle factory into a poultry processing plant is being opposed to area residents who are wary of the potential environmental effects.
