Activ International opens new manufacturing and R&D facilities

By Industry News
September 25, 2015

Activ International, a leader in food ingredient technology, announced today the relocation of their manufacturing and R&D plant to Somerset, New Jersey. Headquartered in Bienne, Switzerland, Activ has been a key global player since 1984, specializing in natural and organic meat, poultry, seafood, vegetable and vegetarian flavors and extracts, natural colors and specialty grill flavors.

The company will hold a grand opening event at their new location on September 29.
The 40,000 square foot facility will boast a 1,200 square foot R&D center and a 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant and warehouse. There will be five R&D staff on site, which include Activ North America’s lead formulators and scientists.

"At our new facilities, the Center of Flavor Excellence, we’ll continue to create and manufacture our natural and organic savory reaction flavors. Additionally, this multimillion dollar investment has allowed us to enlarge our portfolio with new packaging and processing capabilities developed in our fully equipped pilot plant,” said Robert Delin, Chairman of the Activ Group.

According to Peter Gollmer, Vice President North America General Manager, Activ International Inc., the new facilities will help Activ respond to customer needs more efficiently, as their local and international customer base continues to expand.

Activ International has built its business on patented ingredient technology, delivering optimal flavor and color solutions, serving the most discerning customers worldwide. Activ International North America has been the industry leader manufacturing natural flavor keys, culinary flavors, and enhanced savory flavors. Their main technologies, designed to deliver the authentic flavor profiles of their characteristic raw materials of meat, poultry, seafood, vegetable and vegetarian, include the following:

  • Separate Phase Meat and Poultry Flavors
  • Specialty Oil Infused Flavors
  • Culinary Vegetable and Meat Flavors
  • Specialty Extraction/Concentration
  • Lipid/Protein Pyrolysis

In addition to many products being Halal and Kosher certified, Activ International is currently the leading manufacturer of USDA Certified Organic savory flavors for the rapidly growing all-natural, organic food market.

Activ International holds an FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System certification. The certification provides a framework for effectively managing the organization's food safety responsibilities and is fully recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative and is based on existing ISO Standards. In addition to the certification, Activ North America and its worldwide affiliates in Ariquipa, Peru, Melaka, Malasia, and Mitry Mory, France will be linked by a new ERP system.
