Innophos debuts clean-label alternative to titanium dioxide
Launch follows FDA approval of Innophos' petition to use calcium phosphate as a safe color additive in specific food categories.

Specialty phosphates company Innophos is launching VersaCal Bright, a science-backed, clean-label solution that delivers the whiteness and brightness of titanium dioxide, with the added benefit of essential nutrients. This launch follows the US Food and Drug Administration's recent approval of Innophos' petition to use calcium phosphate as a safe color additive in specific food categories.
Innophos' new VersaCal Bright has been approved for use in ready-to-eat chicken products—offering an alternative to titanium dioxide in response to growing consumer and regulatory concerns.
"VersaCal Bright gives manufacturers a practical, science-backed solution that meets both visual and clean-label demands," said Erhan Yildiz, product development senior manager at Innophos. "It offers an effective alternative to titanium dioxide while helping brands strengthen their labels with calcium and phosphorus content. It's a smart way to align with consumer expectations for simpler, safer ingredients while getting ahead of potential future regulatory changes."
