Food processors operating under HACCP and FSMA Preventive Controls frameworks are under increasing pressure to demonstrate consistent, repeatable foreign material detection at designated critical control points (CCPs). As labor variability continues across production environments, maintaining stable inspection performance at these points has become essential for both compliance and operational continuity.
Eagle Product Inspection targets this challenge with its enhanced Pack 550 Pro X-ray system, designed to support dependable inspection performance on packaged food lines where CCP verification is critical.
Within HACCP programs, CCPs require documented evidence that inspection performance remains consistent over time. Variability across operators, shifts, or production conditions can introduce risk and complicate verification efforts. The Pack 550 Pro is designed to minimize these variables, delivering stable inspection results to support ongoing compliance requirements.
The Pack 550 Pro:
- Delivers consistent inspection performance at designated CCPs
- Supports documented HACCP verification requirements
- Reduces operator-dependent variability
- Lowers false rejects that interrupt production
- Aligns with retailer and regulatory inspection expectations
Built for packaged food applications, the system inspects products in large bags, pouches, cartons, thermoform trays and multipack containers. It provides 549 mm (21.6”) of detection coverage and supports line speeds up to 90 meters per minute (295 feet per minute), allowing processors to maintain inspection performance without disrupting throughput.
The system also supports multilane configurations, allowing processors to inspect multiple lanes of the same or dissimilar products, or dedicate one lane to production and another to rework. In addition to contaminant detection, the system performs inline verification checks such as mass measurement, package integrity assessment and component confirmation, supporting both food safety and product quality objectives.
“Critical control points are where inspection performance has to hold up under real production conditions, not just in validation,” said Christy Draus, head of marketing at Eagle Product Inspection. “The Pack 550 Pro helps processors maintain stable, repeatable inspection at those points, reducing variability across shifts while supporting the verification requirements built into HACCP and FSMA programs.”
As regulatory expectations and retailer standards continue to evolve, processors require inspection systems that support both performance and documentation. The Pack 550 Pro enables processors to strengthen CCP verification while maintaining the reliability required in modern packaged food production environments.
