John Morrell® & Co. has released a selection of 11 precooked, pre-sliced ham cuts that eliminate all the prep work for the consumer. The John Morrell Ham Cut line allows customers to skip the steps of dicing, cubing, slicing or otherwise preparing ham for use in recipes, and the products are sold in resealable packaging, for fresh and convenient use of the products over multiple eating occasions.
The company also announces that it has developed a resealable tub for its premium hardwood smoked bacon. The tub eliminates the mess and inconvenience that typical bacon packaging brings about, relays the company. It also allows consumers the flexibility to use opened product over several different eating occasions more easily than previous packaging might have allowed.
Hormel rolls out all-natural lunchmeats
New Hormel® Natural Choice® Deli Sandwich Meats are 100-percent natural sandwich meats with no preservatives and no added nitrites and nitrates. Hormel Foods uses its innovative, high-pressure water-based pasteurization process, called TRUETASTE technology, in lieu of preservatives to guard against harmful bacteria. The technology is an all-natural, USDA–approved process that won’t compromise the taste, texture, appearance or nutritional value of the meats. Natural Choice Deli Sandwich Meats also contain no artificial colors or flavors and no trans fats, and are low in fat and sodium.
The lunchmeats are available in 9-oz. packages and are offered in a variety of delicious flavors, including oven roasted deli turkey, smoked deli turkey and honey deli turkey, as well as honey deli ham, cooked deli ham and smoked deli ham.
Kayem introduces all-beef natural-casing franks
Kayem Foods’ Old Tyme Natural Casing Franks are now available in an all-beef variety. Kayem Old Tyme All Beef Natural Casing Franks are made with select meat trimmings of beef, have no MSG or fillers, and are naturally hardwood smoked for flavor. They are made the old-fashioned way, giving consumers a “snap” when they bite into the franks. Both varieties of Old Tyme franks are now available in a 12-ounce package (six links) or a 2.5-pound, 20-link package.
Fresh ground turkey from Koch’s Turkey Farm
Koch’s Turkey Farm, Tamaqua, Pa., introduces its new fresh ground turkey, available in two varieties: white ground boneless/skinless breast meat or dark ground boneless/skinless thighs. In addition to turkey burgers, Koch’s also offers marinated turkey fillets in the following varieties: Ginger Teriyaki, Honey Ginger, Korean Sesame, Lemon Pepper and Plain (no marinade). Koch’s products are all-natural, antibiotic- and preservative-free, and fed a vegetarian diet. A full line of fresh turkeys, turkey breasts and turkey parts are available from Koch’s, as well as nitrite-free smoked products.
