Koch’s turkeys grow naturally without the use of hormones, stimulants or antibiotics. Each turkey is fed a special all-natural vegetarian diet and allowed free-range access, weather permitting.

Philly-Gourmet Meat Co. is expanding its product line in the frozen burger category — a quarter-pound patty with diced bacon and cheese mixed into the meat to replicate the taste of a bacon cheeseburger. The Philly-Gourmet Bacon and Cheese Homestyle Patties deliver the flavors of a bacon cheeseburger without using bacon and cheese toppings that might slide off the frozen patty or require separate preparation that would diminish the quick-cook advantage. The new patties are made from 100% beef blended with real bacon and real cheese, and cooking times range from 10 to 18 minutes, depending whether the patties are skillet-fried, oven-broiled or charcoal-grilled.
5. Gold’n Plump launches fresh ground-chicken line
Gold’n Plump Poultry announces Recipe Ready Ground Chicken, the company’s first, fresh ground-chicken product. The product — which comes in 20-ounce trays — is made of 100 percent high-quality boneless skinless thigh meat, is lower sodium and has 33 percent less fat per serving than regular ground beef. The company expects the product to succeed based on its popularity not only in the health arena, but also in the culinary sphere as an excellent base protein for a multitude of ground-protein recipes.
6. Hormel bridges gap between take-out and deli
Responding to retailers’ desire to increase their share of take-home dinners, take-out convenience meets grocery-store variety with the introduction of Hormel® Deli Entrees.
