Greater Omaha Packing donates 1,000 pounds of beef per month to Food Bank for the Heartland
Protein remains one of the most requested and hardest-to-source food items for hunger relief organizations.

Greater Omaha Packing Co. and Food Bank for the Heartland are announcing an ongoing partnership to provide protein to families facing hunger across its 93-county service area in Nebraska and western Iowa. Beginning June 17, 2025, Greater Omaha Packing has committed to donating 1,000 pounds of ground beef every month to Food Bank for the Heartland.
Protein remains one of the most requested and hardest-to-source food items for hunger relief organizations. This monthly donation will help fill that gap, providing beef to thousands of individuals in need.
“At Greater Omaha Packing, we’re proud to be part of a community that looks out for one another,” said Henry Davis, CEO of Greater Omaha Packing Co. “This monthly donation is our way of standing alongside Food Bank for the Heartland to help ensure families across our region have access to the nutritious food they deserve.”
This partnership aligns with the Food Bank’s future vision. The nonprofit is on schedule to move into its new facility in Omaha by January 2026. Once complete, the expanded space will feature a 514% increase in protein repack capacity and a 63% increase in cooler and freezer space, improving the organization’s ability to distribute fresh and healthy food.
“We are incredibly grateful for Greater Omaha Packing’s monthly commitment,” said Brian Barks, president and CEO of Food Bank for the Heartland.
“This donation comes at a pivotal time as food insecurity levels have reached an all-time high across our service area. 1 in 7 individuals and 1 in 5 children don’t know how they’ll obtain their next meal. Protein-rich foods play a key role in the fight against hunger, and this generous donation will support individuals and families making unthinkable decisions every day.”
