USDA hosts educational event at USDA Cattle and Carcass Training Center
USDA Cattle and Carcass Training Center at West Texas A&M University offers an in-person educational event for cattle producers and interested stakeholders.

The US Department of Agriculture is hosting an in-person educational event for cattle producers and interested stakeholders at the USDA Cattle and Carcass Training Center at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, Sept. 18, 2025.
The event will focus on fed cattle grading and evaluation in addition to performing a simulated CME Live Cattle delivery. Attendees will hear from USDA staff, CME Group representatives and industry experts, and participate in live cattle demonstrations.
While anyone can attend the events, they are targeted to producers, feeders and other stakeholders who want a better understanding of factors that contribute to the market value of cattle, and how these factors can inform marketing and production decisions.
Preregistration is required for the event, which is free and open to the public. Information about this event, including how to pre-register, is available on the AMS website.
The 2018 Farm Bill directed USDA to establish the Cattle and Carcass Training Centers to conduct activities that limit subjectivity in the application of cattle and beef grading standards, provide producers with a greater understanding of the value of their cattle and provide investors more confidence in the CME cattle delivery system.
