Deli deep dive: November delivers for deli dollar and unit sales

Deli prepared foods generate more than half of total deli department sales.

According to retail sales data analysis for November 2025 conducted by 210 Analytics and Circana MULO+, November 2025 deli sales reflect unit increases for cheese and prepared foods, but year-on-year decreases for deli entertaining and meat.

Deli prepared food generated more than half of the total deli department sales. Additionally, it generated most of the unit increases for the department.

After a few months with volume growth, deli meat volume sales were down slightly, at -1.9%. This is still a substantial improvement from the annual view, at -3.9%. Grab-and-go sales and pre-sliced sales are starting to improve, but service case sales continued to decline substantially. That is likely related to ongoing reduction in service counter hours and others removing service counters altogether.
