Beef deep dive: Sales dominance and growth contribution
Beef accounts for 40.1% of total meat department sales and 56.5% of fresh meat sales.

According to retail sales data analysis for November 2025 conducted by 210 Analytics and Circana MULO+, beef’s strength in the marketplace is evident in both its sales dominance and growth contribution:
- Beef accounts for 40.1% of total meat department sales and 56.5% of fresh meat sales.
- Its share of total meat department sales increased from 38.1% last year, along with an increase over its fresh meat share that stood at 54.8% last year.
- Beef delivered 70.7% of all meat department dollar growth, adding $4.9 billion of the department’s $6.9 billion gain.
- While inflation contributed to beef’s dollar performance, beef also represents 26.7% of total meat department volume and 36.8% of fresh meat pounds.
- Both volume shares increased year-on-year, up from 26.0% of total meat volume and 36.3% of fresh meat pounds.
- Notably, beef drove 57.2% of total meat department volume growth, adding 264 million pounds compared with the department’s total gain of 462 million pounds.
